'Chipped Quilts are made possible by microchip technology. Microchips are tiny, the size of a grain of rice! As such, they are easy to hide within the layers of your quilt. These tiny chips are encoded with a unique 10 digit number that can be read by a special reader. When entered into The National Quilt & Textiles Registry's database, that number, along with information about the quilt and owner, provides positive identification of the quilt even if all other means of identification have been defaced or removed.
It's easy to 'Chip a new, in-progress quilt or a finished quilt. The techniques are slightly different. Just remember to note exactly where you place the 'Chip. This will be important information to list when you enter the quilt into the National Quilt and Textile Registry.
Both packages come with one microchip, complete instructions, a cloth Contact Information Label to stitch to your quilt and 'Chip Number ID labels for your records.
The Pinewater Quilting Company is a 'Chipped Quilts Partner. I have a reader in the studio to help identify 'Chipped Quilts. If your guild or qroup would be interested in a program about 'chipped quilts please contact me. If you have any questions, please email me. |
